The 2024 NFL Draft is just around the corner, and teams are making their final preparations to improve upon their performances in the previous season. The draft’s first round kicks off in Detroit, Michigan, and the Buccaneers will have the 26th overall pick after making the playoffs in 2023. There are multiple possibilities for Tampa Bay’s pick, but they are likely to focus on selecting a top player in either the offensive line, pass rusher, or defensive back positions.

In a recent first-round mock draft by CBS Sports’ Will Brinson, he predicts that the Buccaneers will choose Terrion Arnold, a standout cornerback from the University of Alabama. Arnold, a Tallahassee native, has proven himself as an elite player, receiving recognition for his performance at the NFL Combine and earning accolades during his time at Alabama.

During his sophomore season, Arnold started all 14 games and ranked sixth in the FBS with five interceptions and fifth in passes defended with 17. His exceptional play led to him being named a first-team Associated Press All-American and securing a spot on the All-SEC first team. The addition of a talent like Arnold would greatly benefit the Buccaneers’ defense, especially after the offseason trade of Carlton Davis III.

With the upcoming season in mind, the Buccaneers have made moves to strengthen their defensive backfield by adding players like Zyon McCollum and Tavierre Thomas. However, the addition of a player like Arnold would provide a significant boost to a secondary that struggled at times during the 2023 season.
