Thanasis Antetokounmpo, the teammate of Giannis Antetokounmpo and his older brother, is set to undergo surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon, as reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic. The injury occurred during a workout this week, despite Antetokounmpo playing in the Bucks’ final playoff game where he was unharmed. Unfortunately, this injury will prevent him from participating with the Greek national team this summer as they aim to secure an Olympic spot.

Last summer, with Giannis Antetokounmpo not playing for the Greek team, Thanasis took on a bigger role. However, due to his injury, he is expected to miss most, if not all, of the upcoming NBA season as well. Antetokounmpo, aged 31, has been a part of the Bucks for five years and played 34 games this season. Known for signing one-year contracts with the team, he was likely to continue this trend, but with the uncertainty surrounding his ability to play for a year, the Bucks face a dilemma.
