The Hartford Yard Goats came from behind to win their third straight game, defeating the Portland Sea Dogs 12-5 in an Eastern League matchup in Hartford, Connecticut. Trailing 4-1, the Yard Goats scored five runs in the seventh inning to take the lead. Sterlin Thompson was the star of the game, going 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and three RBIs. This victory moved the Yard Goats into first place in the Northeast Division, ahead of Portland.

Nick Yorke had a strong game for the Sea Dogs, going 2 for 4 and scoring twice. Portland had taken an early lead with a two-run double by Yorke and an RBI triple by Matthew Lugo in the third inning. Wikelman Gonzalez pitched well for Portland, striking out eight batters and allowing only one hit through five innings. However, the bullpen couldn’t hold the lead, leading to the Yard Goats’ comeback.

Next, the Sea Dogs will begin a six-game homestand against the Reading Fightin Phils on Tuesday. It will be an important series for Portland as they look to bounce back from this tough loss and regain their position in the division standings.
