A while ago, we heard about the new technology being rolled out at Sam’s Club to make shopping faster and more convenient. This new technology, called AI receipt verification, aims to streamline the checkout process and eliminate the need for a team member to check your receipt as you leave the store. Sam’s Club already offers the Scan and Go feature, which is unique to the store and differentiates it from competitors like Costco.

The rollout of AI receipt verification started a few months ago and has been implemented in approximately 120 Sam’s Club locations across the United States, or about 20% of the stores. The technology uses a combination of computer vision and digital technology at the store exit to verify payment and ensure a smooth checkout process. The system is continuously learning and improving, thanks to its AI capabilities.

Most of the stores with AI receipt verification are located in Southern States, where the system was tested and proven successful. The plan is to extend this technology to all Sam’s Club locations by the end of the year, gradually implementing it to address any potential glitches that may arise during the process. For customers who use the Scan and Go feature, there will be no changes to this system.
