This week’s nominees for Courier Journal girls athlete of the week displayed consistency on either the softball diamond or lacrosse field. Voting is currently open for The Courier Journal’s girls athlete of the week, with the poll set to close at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The winner will be announced on Friday. First up is Tia Ice from Assumption, who had an impressive week with seven hits, including a home run, and seven RBIs in games against Meade County, Mercy, and South Warren. Next, Kylie McRoberts from Whitefield Academy had a strong showing on the softball field, picking up two wins and striking out 16 batters in games against Portland Christian and Jeffersontown.

Sophie Sheehan, a sophomore from Ballard, made her mark in lacrosse with eight goals and one assist in games against Collins and North Oldham. Allie Streble, a freshman from Mercy, also had a standout performance with eight hits, including a home run, three RBIs, and a walk in games against North Bullitt, Assumption, and Bullitt East. Lastly, Hailey Voss from Sacred Heart contributed five goals and one assist to help her team secure wins over Mercy and Mariemont (Cincinnati).
