The Grammy winner revealed that she is dealing with Stiff Person Syndrome, also known as SPS, a rare neurological disease that causes muscle stiffness and spasms, hypersensitivity to stimuli, and emotional stress triggers. Despite hoping for a miracle cure, she is focusing on accepting her medical condition. Dion took a break from her professional commitments in December 2022 after announcing her diagnosis and has since halted performances and tours.

In an interview with “Vogue,” Dion shared that she spends five days a week in physical therapy, vocal treatments, and athletics to manage her condition. She expressed the need to learn to live with the situation rather than dwell on the reasons why it happened. Dion highlighted the importance of working hard to maintain her physical and vocal health and receiving top-tier medical care that her financial position allows.

Though uncertain about returning to live performances, Dion remains optimistic about her future. She emphasized the love from her fans and relatives, alongside first-class medical care, as her sources of strength. She acknowledged her privileged position to access quality treatment and expressed gratitude for the support she receives. Dion plans to take her recovery day by day and remains determined to follow her desires.

A documentary titled “Me: Celine Dion” is set for release on Prime Video later this year, chronicling the singer’s journey as she navigates life with the disease. Despite the challenges she faces, Dion remains committed to living authentically and openly, showcasing her resilience and determination to overcome obstacles.
