Information technology training organization CompTIA has announced the launch of new learning and certification programs, the Essentials and Expansion series, designed to enhance and maintain AI skills. The new series is focused on AI competencies in four career areas – software development, cybersecurity, systems operations (SysOps), and data analytics – as well as two job roles – prompt engineering and AI systems architecture.

The Essentials Series is set to launch in July 2024 and is suitable for individuals in both tech-specific positions and adjacent occupations that rely on technology. It will cover topics such as the AI landscape, available AI tools, overcoming AI challenges, the benefits of AI for creativity and work enhancement, and the future implications of AI.

On the other hand, the Expansion Series goes beyond the basics and will delve into advanced skills and technology developments for specific job roles. This series is intended for individuals with CompTIA Plus (+) or Pro certifications in areas such as security engineers, penetration testers, security analysts, data analysts, systems operations, tech support, network operations, AI systems architects, and prompt engineers.

Future releases from CompTIA will focus on fully leveraging AI in systems operations, tech support, AI systems architecture, and prompt engineering. The organization plans to start with cyber engineering, analytics, and pen testing in upcoming releases.
