Congressman Steve Cohen from Tennessee’s 9th district announced that Tri-State Community Health Center will be receiving a grant of $1,416,200 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to support their work with the underserved population. The congressman emphasized the critical need for the services provided by Tri-State Community Health Center, especially for individuals who do not have access to affordable health insurance due to Tennessee’s decision not to expand its Medicaid program, TennCare.

Cohen expressed his concern for these underserved individuals and highlighted the burden placed on financially strained hospitals that provide uncompensated care. He also criticized Tennessee’s failure to expand Medicaid, which prevents its residents from fully benefiting from a federal program they are already contributing to through their tax dollars.

The congressman commended Tri-State Community Health Center for its dedication and hard work in serving the community and expressed his satisfaction that the organization was awarded funding to continue providing essential services. This grant will allow Tri-State Community Health Center to further support and assist those in need within the community.
