U.S. health conglomerate Kaiser recently reported a data breach affecting millions of its members in a notice posted on Thursday. The Kaiser Foundation Health Plan confirmed that 13.4 million residents had their information compromised in the breach, as required by law and reported on April 12.

Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, also known as Kaiser Permanente, is a prominent U.S. healthcare provider. Despite the breach, Kaiser Permanente stated that they are not aware of any misuse of any member or patient’s personal information. As a precautionary measure, they are notifying approximately 13.4 million current and former members and patients who accessed their websites and mobile applications about the breach.

The incident at Kaiser has been documented on the Department of Health and Human Services’ breach notification portal. This breach highlights the ongoing importance of protecting personal information in the healthcare industry to prevent unauthorized access and misuse of data.
