The solar eclipse made a surprise appearance at the topping-off ceremony of EastSide Charter School in Wilmington. Despite the clouds, the eclipse added a special touch to the event, making it memorable for all in attendance.
A conference is scheduled to take place at Wilmington University’s New Castle campus on Wednesday, with the aim of increasing local participation in commercial development and investment opportunities. This initiative, called Opportunity LIVES Here, was conceptualized by Delaware State Sen. Darius Brown in collaboration with the Riverfront Development Corporation of Delaware and the Delaware River and Bay Authority. The goal is to stimulate business growth and investment opportunities for residents living near the Brandywine, Christina, and Delaware rivers.
The Opportunity LIVES Here symposium series was launched in November and aims to bring together nationally recognized speakers, investors, and developers to discuss ideas that could lead to economic, cultural, and social transformation in the region. The upcoming event, scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, will focus on how diversity can contribute to a stronger economy.
As Delaware progresses towards becoming a majority-minority state, Sen. Brown sees the Opportunity LIVES Here forum as a crucial step in developing public policy and providing access to capital for the changing demographics of the state. In partnership with the Delaware Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Riverfront Development Corporation, and the Delaware River & Bay Authority, this symposium will delve into topics such as the global trade economy, support for ethnic grocers, and the state’s innovation economy.
