The College of Western Idaho recently held a beam signing event to mark the topping out of the new Health & Science building at their Nampa campus. This marks the first expansion since the college was established in 2007. The new building will centralize the department, bringing all resources under one roof for the convenience of students and faculty.

Former student Nichelle Boyce, who earned her degree in Surgical Technology from CWI, expressed enthusiasm for the new expansion. She highlighted the advantage of having all professors in one location, making it easier for students to access assistance and resources. Boyce emphasized the convenience of having all necessary resources in one place, as opposed to having to navigate several buildings for core credits.

The college aims to enhance collaboration among students by consolidating the health department into a single building. This move is seen as key to improving student learning outcomes and preparing future healthcare professionals. Vice Chair Trustee Cherie Buckner-Webb emphasized the importance of expanding the health department to meet the growing demand for healthcare professionals not only in Idaho but worldwide.

Overall, the completion of the Health & Science building signifies a significant step towards modernizing the college’s facilities and enhancing the learning experience for students pursuing healthcare careers. The community looks forward to the positive impact this expansion will have on the education of future healthcare professionals.
