On Tuesday, May 14 from 5:30-7 p.m., South Lake Tahoe is gearing up for an exciting event called Discovery Night. This community event is a joint effort between Lake Tahoe Community College, Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD), and Tahoe STEM Academy and aims to promote STEM exploration. The event will take place at South Tahoe Middle School and promises an evening filled with excitement, learning, and fun for K-12 students and families.

Discovery Night will offer attendees an engaging atmosphere similar to a Discovery Museum, where they can participate in interactive activities, tinkering exhibits, and robotics displays. The goal is to ignite a passion for science and discovery in students and provide an opportunity for families to come together and explore various STEM subjects.

Adam Eynon, the Director of Dual Enrollment at Lake Tahoe Community College, emphasized the importance of nurturing an early interest in STEM subjects. LTCC’s TRiO, HSI, and Dual Enrollment departments are proud to support this initiative, aiming to expand STEM offerings in dual enrollment and provide students with access to high-quality STEM education.

The collaboration between LTCC, LTUSD, and Tahoe STEM Academy will bring Discovery Night to fruition and align with the mission to enhance STEM education opportunities in the community. The event will feature food, games, raffle prizes, and most importantly, an enriching exploration of STEM concepts. Families with students from kindergarten to 12th grade are encouraged to attend and participate in this immersive learning experience.
