A driver died after crashing his car into an exterior door of the White House in Washington on Saturday night, according to the US Secret Service. The incident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. when a vehicle traveling at high speed collided with an exterior perimeter gate of the White House complex. The Secret Service stated on social media that there was no threat to the White House itself.

Upon arriving at the scene, agents tried to provide aid to the driver, who was discovered deceased. An investigation into the fatal accident was launched by the Secret Service, along with police and firefighters from the District of Columbia. Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the Secret Service, confirmed that there was no threat or implications for public safety.

In January, another person was arrested for crashing a vehicle into the exterior gate of the White House complex. Recent years have seen a series of high-profile intrusion incidents at the White House, leading to the construction of a taller, stronger metal fence around the perimeter of the iconic mansion in 2020.
