In recent years, emissions in the road transport sector have been consistently increasing, making it the only sector where this trend is observed. The association between transport and health, as well as their broader co-benefits, has been acknowledged by European partnerships and policies. This was further emphasized in the Budapest Declaration adopted by countries in the WHO European Region, which emphasized the importance of promoting healthy, safe, climate-friendly, and inclusive mobility and transport. The question now is how can we capitalize on these favorable conditions to bring about transformative change in Europe through local clean transport solutions that prioritize health, safety, and environmental friendliness.
