New Michigan men’s basketball coach Dusty May is making moves to improve the team by bringing in one of his top players from Florida Atlantic University to Ann Arbor. Vladislav Goldin, a native of Nalchuk, Russia, has committed to the Wolverines after a successful stint with the Owls.
Goldin, a 7-foot-1 center, brings valuable skills to Michigan, including low-post scoring and pick-and-roll capability. Last season with FAU, he averaged 15.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game. With one season of eligibility remaining, Goldin will look to make a significant impact with the Wolverines.
Having played three seasons at FAU under May, including a run to the NCAA Tournament Final Four, Goldin is a proven player with experience at a high level of competition. His addition to the Michigan roster fills a gap left by the departure of Hunter Dickinson, who transferred to Kansas after the 2022-23 season.
Goldin is part of a larger transfer class brought in by Coach May as he looks to revamp a Michigan program that struggled last season. Other players joining the team include Yale center Danny Wolf, Auburn guard Tre Donaldson, Alabama forward Sam Walters, Ohio State guard Roddy Gayle Jr., and North Texas guard Rubin Jones. The Wolverines have also secured a commitment from high school guard Justin Pippen, son of NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen.
With Goldin’s commitment to Michigan, he has also decided to withdraw his name from consideration for the 2024 NBA Draft, showing his commitment to the team and his desire to contribute to their success.
