The New England Patriots have reportedly signed defensive tackle Christian Barmore to a four-year, $92 million contract extension. Barmore, a 2021 second-round pick, showed significant improvement on the field last season, with 8.5 sacks, 64 tackles, and 13 tackles for a loss in 2023.

The extension includes $41.8 million in guaranteed money and represents a significant raise for Barmore, who was set to earn $1.82 million in the final year of his original deal. If he reaches the full value of the contract, he would average $23 million per year.

Extending players like Barmore is crucial for the Patriots as they rebuild following the departure of Bill Belichick. Head coach Jerod Mayo’s first NFL Draft yielded promising results, including quarterback Drake Maye with the No. 3 overall pick, earning a high grade from experts. This move demonstrates the team’s commitment to building a strong foundation for the future.
