The National Startup Index Report provides a comprehensive overview of the startup ecosystem, focusing on the development trends of startups which are science and technology-based businesses. The report was announced during a ceremony to introduce the National Startup Promotion Index Framework Report and launch the Startup Research Institute on April 17. Developed by the Institute for Entrepreneurship Research within the National Startup Association, this report will be released annually to showcase Vietnam’s comparative advantages in the startup ecosystem compared to other countries, analyzing potential industries and fields for future growth.

The report consists of five parts, exploring global startup trends in 2024 and setting national startup criteria. It also introduces localities, industries, and noteworthy faces within the startup community. Twelve standards have been identified for examining and calculating the startup index, involving advice from various global startup monitoring bodies, independent research institutes, universities, and experts from countries like the US, UK, and Korea.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Hoang Minh emphasized the importance of businesses in driving socio-economic development through science, technology, and innovation. He highlighted the challenges posed by the Fourth Industrial Revolution and stressed the need for Vietnamese businesses to adapt quickly to new technology and innovation. The Ministry of Science and Technology is committed to supporting innovative startups in accessing resources and building standards for competitiveness and intellectual property. The establishment of the Startup Research Institute aligns with this mission, supporting startups based on science and technology to thrive in the evolving business landscape.
