Despite a general sense of unease within the electric vehicle market, there remains a segment that continues to thrive. Buyers like Chris Russo, co-founder of Elite Home Care in South Carolina, are unfazed by high prices, range anxiety, or spotty charging infrastructure. Russo purchased his first EV, a Ford E-Transit van, over two years ago and has since added dozens more battery-powered vehicles to his fleet.

Russo’s company utilizes these EVs every day to transport senior citizens, and the transition to electric vehicles has been highly beneficial. In fact, Russo estimates that he saves $6,500 per year on each EV compared to similar gas-powered vehicles due to lower fuel and maintenance costs. With 100 chargers installed at his company’s vehicle depot, the fleet operates with impressive efficiency.

This success story serves as a reminder that, despite challenges faced by the electric vehicle market as a whole, there are businesses and individuals who continue to embrace and thrive with electric vehicles. By focusing on the long-term benefits and investing in infrastructure, Russo has been able to electrify nearly his entire fleet and reap the rewards of reduced costs and increased efficiency.
