German Member of European Parliament Staff Member Allegedly Arrested for Espionage on Behalf of China

A man who works for a German legislator in the European Parliament has been arrested for alleged espionage for China, according to the German prosecutor. The suspect, known only as Jian G. in accordance with German privacy laws, was arrested on Monday in Dresden, as explained by the federal prosecutor in a statement. While authorities did not specify which legislator he works for, German magazine Der Spiegel reported that he is part of Maxim ah Hyn Krah of the Alternative for Germany party, who is the main candidate of the far-right formation for the elections to the community parliament scheduled for early June.

This news comes a day after three Germans suspected of spying for China and organizing the transfer of technology information for possible military uses were arrested in a separate case.
