The World Athletics Relays Bahamas 24 will feature a total of 32 teams in the men’s 4x400m relay, 27 teams in the women’s 4x400m relay, and 30 teams in the mixed 4x400m relay. India will be participating in all three races.
For the men’s 4x400m relay, India has selected an eight-member team that includes athletes like Amoj Jacob, Muhammad Anas Yahiya, Muhammad Ajmal, and Rajesh Ramesh, who won the gold medal at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games. Other members of the team are Arokia Rajiv, Noah Nirmal Tom, Yashas Palaksha, and Avinash Krishna Kumar.
In the women’s 4x400m relay, India will be represented by a seven-member team led by MR Poovamma. The team also includes Vithya Ramraj, Aishwarya Mishra, Prachi, Subha Venkatesan, Jyothika Sri Dandi, and Rupal.
For the mixed 4x400m relay, India has chosen athletes like Vithya Ramraj, Rajesh Ramesh, Jyothika Sri Dandi, Amoj Jacob, Rupal, and Yashas. These athletes have previously performed well at the Asian Games and the Olympics.
The start lists for the races will be published on May 3, and the team line-ups will be confirmed closer to the event. The top two teams in each heat on day two will qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. India will be looking to make a mark at the World Athletics Relays Bahamas 24 with their strong teams in all three relay races.
