Abubakar Tahiru, a 29-year-old man from Ghana who is studying forestry in Alabama, recently set a new world record for the most trees hugged in an hour. He hugged a total of 1,123 trees at Tuskegee National Forest, showcasing his passion for nature conservation and environmental preservation. Tahiru’s interest in conserving nature began while growing up in a farming community in Tepa, Ghana, fueling his desire to pursue a master’s degree in forestry at Auburn University.

During his record-breaking attempt, Tahiru had to wrap both of his arms around each tree in a close embrace, ensuring that no damage was caused to the trees. He also had to make sure that he did not hug the same tree more than once, requiring him to move quickly and efficiently between each hug. Despite fasting for Ramadan at the time of the attempt, Tahiru managed to complete the challenge without water breaks, demonstrating his determination and perseverance.

With an average of 19 trees hugged per minute, Tahiru easily exceeded the minimum requirement of 700 trees to set the new world record. His achievement not only highlights his love for trees but also raises awareness about the significance of trees and the importance of environmental conservation. Tahiru’s passion for nature and his commitment to preserving the environment serve as an inspiration to others to take action in protecting the planet for future generations.
