A public health alert has been issued for contaminated chorizo sold at H-E-B in San Antonio. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has reported that the affected product is “LEAN APCO BRAND MEATS ALL-NATURAL PREMIUM CHORIZO” with a best-by date of May 12. These packages were sold at H-E-B grocery stores in Texas.

The contamination was discovered after receiving complaints about hard pieces of plastic and metal found in the chorizo product. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries or illnesses from consuming the contaminated chorizo. If you have purchased this product, it is recommended to either throw it away or return it to H-E-B.

San Antonio Packing Company, owners of APCO Brand Meats, have released a press release regarding the public health alert. This serves as a reminder to always be cautious when consuming any food products and to report any issues or concerns to the appropriate authorities.
