AstraZeneca recently admitted that their Covid-19 vaccine could cause blood clots in rare cases, leading to confusion among the public. As a result, many people rushed to do a D-Dimer test to check for blood clots or purchased oral medications to dissolve them and reduce the risk of stroke. However, the most recent injection was about two years ago and has had hardly any side effects to this day. The Ministry of Health states that any side effects from the vaccine only occur within 28 days of use. Vietnam has administered millions of doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine with only a few cases of side effects related to thrombosis. The World Health Organization (WHO) also confirmed that side effects of the vaccine are extremely rare.

D-Dimer testing is a specific method for detecting blood clots in the veins and is prescribed by a cardiologist for individuals with certain symptoms. It can help diagnose conditions such as myocardial ischemia or myocardial infarction, characterized by symptoms like severe chest pain, arm pain, fatigue, shortness of breath, and sweating. However, in cases of normal health, D-Dimer test results can be misleading and may lead to unnecessary confusion and expenses.

If an abnormality is detected in the D-Dimer test, a doctor will prescribe further tests to determine the location and extent of the clot so appropriate treatment can be provided. Not all blood clots can be treated with medication, so it is important not to use oral medications to dissolve blood clots without proper medical guidance. Doctors advise that there is a risk of stroke whether vaccinated or not, and it is essential to seek medical attention at a reputable facility if any health abnormalities are noticed for timely diagnosis and treatment.
