Hamas, the Islamist terrorist organization, has suggested a ceasefire in the Gaza war along with the release of hostages to Israel. Senior Hamas official Khalil Al-Hayaer shared this message on Telegram on Saturday, stating that Hamas will examine the proposal and provide a response. This comes in response to Israel’s submission, which was handed over to mediators from Egypt and Qatar on April 13th.

Israel is increasing pressure on Hamas in the indirect negotiations for a ceasefire and the release of Israeli hostages. Reports suggest that if an agreement is not reached soon, Israel will continue its announced ground offensive in the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip. Israeli media indicate that the latest talks were initially focused on a limited agreement where only some female, elderly, and sick hostages would be released by Hamas. The duration of a possible ceasefire would depend on the number of hostages Hamas releases, according to reports.

Hamas is demanding a permanent ceasefire, while Israel rejects this proposal. The negotiations are ongoing, and both parties are working towards reaching a resolution. The situation remains tense as both sides try to find common ground in the midst of the conflict.
