During a press event at the former London Olympic Park, IOC President Thomas Bach emphasized the importance of embracing change and being leaders in utilizing AI responsibly. The IOC’s AI strategy was unveiled as preparations for the Paris Olympics, slated to begin in less than 100 days, are underway.
In addition to improving judging and athlete identification, the IOC plans to use AI to safeguard athletes from online harassment and enhance the broadcast viewing experience for spectators at home. Given the significant revenue generated from broadcast rights sales, technological advancements are key in enhancing the Olympic Games.
The use of AI for security purposes in Paris, such as AI-powered cameras for monitoring potential threats like abandoned packages or crowd movements, has generated some controversy among local organizers.
