Jaromír Jágr is defying age as he enters his 36th professional season with Rytíři Kladno. At 52 years old, he recently became the oldest professional hockey player, surpassing the legendary Gordie Howe. Jágr, the owner and operator of Kladno, scored in a recent playoff game against VHK Vsetín, helping his team secure a 2-0 series lead.

Gordie Howe previously held the record for the oldest professional hockey player, playing his last NHL game at 52 years and 11 days old in 1980. Jágr’s continued presence on the ice at his age is a remarkable feat in the world of hockey, showing his dedication and passion for the sport. Despite battling injuries this season, Jágr has persevered and remained active in the game.

During his time away from the ice, Jágr returned to Pittsburgh where he participated in Mario Lemieux’s adult fantasy camp and had his No. 68 retired by the franchise. He has an impressive legacy in the NHL, ranking second in all-time scoring with 1,921 points and fourth in goals scored with 766. Over his 24-year career in North America, Jágr played for nine different teams before returning to Kladno.

Since departing from the Calgary Flames in 2018, Jágr has maintained a presence with Kladno, playing sporadically for the team. His enduring talent and love for the game continue to inspire fans and fellow players alike, solidifying his status as a hockey legend both on and off the ice.
