The University of Jamestown softball team secured a 3-1 victory over Morningside University at the Mustangs’ Jensen Softball Complex. The Jimmies took an early lead with Abby Blair driving in a run in the top of the first inning. They added another run to make it 2-0 before the Mustangs scored in the third to bring the score to 2-1. In the fifth inning, the Jimmies sealed the win with a run-scoring single from Gracie Fisher, making it 3-1.

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Jimmies fell short with a 10-6 loss to the Mustangs. They initially took a 3-0 lead in the second inning but the Mustangs fought back to tie the game. Gentry Turin had a standout performance with a 2-for-3 game with two RBIs. However, the Mustangs’ Kennedee Jones stole the show with a 3-for-4 game, including a two-run homer in the sixth inning to secure the win for her team.

Despite the loss, the Jimmies finished strong with a run in the seventh inning but couldn’t overcome the lead. The team will now wait to see their opponent in the upcoming GPAC Conference Tournament starting on May 1st.
