The Charlotte Regional Business Alliance announced that CEO Janet LaBar will be leaving her position within the next month. The board will be appointing an interim CEO while they search for a full-time successor.

LaBar joined the organization in 2019, bringing with her experience from her time as CEO in Portland, Oregon, and as the chief performance officer at the Phoenix Economic Development Council. The board expressed their gratitude for her dedication to the region and her hard work during her time at the CLT Alliance.

Ali Summerville, an executive at Ally Financial and chair of the board executive committee, stated that he is confident that the CLT Alliance will continue to be a strong organization focused on economic growth, business advocacy, and bringing diverse stakeholders together. This is thanks to the support of investors, partners, and the professional staff.

In her statement, LaBar expressed her pride in the work that has been done to highlight Charlotte as a region where businesses and talent can prosper. The Alliance was created through a merger of the former Charlotte Chamber and Charlotte Regional Partnership, which worked to promote economic growth in multiple counties in North and South Carolina.

Interestingly, LaBar’s husband, James LaBar, holds a position as the senior vice president of economic development at Charlotte Center City Partners, emphasizing the couple’s dedication to promoting economic growth and development in the Charlotte area.
