More than 2.5 million registered vehicles in Croatia

According to data from the State Institute of Statistics, last year there were 2,554,524 registered road vehicles in Croatia, which represented a four percent increase from 2022. Of these, 1,910,131 were registered passenger vehicles, showing a 3.8 percent growth from the previous year. The number of road vehicles registered for the first time totaled 190,063, marking a significant increase of 28.6 percent compared to 2022.

The growth in first registrations was particularly notable for motorcycles, with an increase of 12,003 units or 42.3 percent, bringing the total number of motorcycles on Croatian roads to 101,515 by the end of the year. Additionally, 19,455 trucks were registered for the first time, a 36.6 percent increase from 2022, with a total of 221,006 trucks on the roads. Road tractors also saw a significant increase in first-time registrations, with 2,561 more vehicles registered, representing a 29.3 percent growth from the previous year, totaling 16,504 road tractors.

The number of first-time registered passenger vehicles increased by 29.2 percent, or 137,557 units. The number of agricultural tractors registered for the first time increased by 10.5 percent, with 7,483 tractors added, bringing the total to 148,080 agricultural tractors registered in Croatia in the last year. However, the number of first bus registrations decreased by 2.5 percent, with a total of 5,799 buses registered.

In terms of road traffic accidents, there were 10,633 incidents with casualties in 2023, marking a 6.3 percent increase from 2022. The number of fatalities remained largely stable, with 274 deaths, and there were 14,204 injured individuals recorded, showing a 6.6 percent increase from the previous year.
