ECU Health recently organized a New Graduate Nurse Hiring event to attract upcoming nurses to join their workforce. The event took place at TowneBank Tower on East Carolina University’s campus in February. A total of 276 interviews were conducted with prospective nurses, many of whom are from eastern North Carolina. This event provided candidates with the opportunity to learn about different units within the organization and connect with nursing leaders. Ultimately, 96 future nurses accepted positions across the ECU Health system, highlighting the organization’s dedication to recruiting and retaining exceptional nurses for rural healthcare.

Trish Baise, ECU Health’s Chief Nursing Executive, expressed her satisfaction with the event’s turnout and the chance to engage with future nurses in a casual environment. She emphasized the importance of nurturing relationships with new graduate nurses as they are vital to the organization’s workforce pipeline. The event spanned two days, with the first day focused on networking and the second day dedicated to interviews with candidates.

Dr. Kamilah Williams, administrator for Professional Practice Development & Clinical Education at ECU Health, highlighted the message that resonated well with nursing candidates – ECU Health offers a multitude of opportunities for launching careers in various nursing specialties. The organization aims to provide a positive clinical experience for nurses who have grown up or been educated in eastern North Carolina.
