Bailey Maupin and Jasmine Shavers, who were recently recognized for their outstanding performance on the basketball court in the 2023-24 Dave Campbell’s All-Texas Women’s Basketball Awards, have now earned academic honors as well. Both players have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for the first time in their careers. They have also been selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists and will move on to the national ballot for voting by CSC members.

As key players for the Lady Raiders, Maupin and Shavers played vital roles in the team’s offense this season. Maupin, who started in every game, led Texas Tech with 27 double-figure scoring games and 102 assists. She averaged a team-high 31.6 minutes per game and was second in scoring with 14.1 points per game. Additionally, Maupin made 127 free throws on an impressive 85.8 percent shooting from the line.

Maupin had a standout season with multiple 20-plus scoring games and recorded her first career double-double against Sam Houston with 11 assists and 15 points. She led the team in scoring 12 times and in assists 19 times during the season. In Big 12 play, Maupin averaged 13.3 points and 2.6 assists per game in all 18 contests.

Shavers, on the other hand, led the Lady Raiders in various offensive categories throughout the season. Averaging a team-high 15.4 points per game, she had eight 20-plus scoring games and 26 double-figure scoring games. Shavers also contributed on the boards with an average of 5.0 rebounds per game and earned two double-doubles this season.

During conference play, Shavers maintained a team-high 14.4 points per game and had two standout performances in the Big 12 Championships, including a career-high of 29 points against Houston. She led the team with 55 made 3-pointers and shot 40.1 percent from the field.
