The New England Patriots have the third overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. This pick puts them in a position to select a top-rated quarterback, however, scouting director and de-factor general manager Eliot Wolf is not fully committed to choosing a quarterback with their first pick. In a pre-draft press conference, Wolf mentioned that the team is open to different options such as moving up, moving down, and being open for business in every round.

Wolf emphasized the team’s focus on filling holes in the draft and being a draft and develop team. He mentioned that having more draft picks would be beneficial, but they are also open to moving up if the board recommends it. While discussions with other teams have taken place, no deal has materialized that makes Wolf want to strike a deal.

Wolf expressed confidence in the current roster supporting a rookie quarterback if one ends up being chosen in the draft. He highlighted the solid offensive line, key players returning, and a strong system in place to help develop a rookie quarterback. The Patriots traded Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars and are now looking for their next “quarterback of the future.”

The Patriots have quarterbacks under contract on the roster such as Jacoby Brissett, Bailey Zappe, and Nathan Rourke. The question remains whether the Patriots will select a quarterback with their first pick or opt for another strategy to maximize draft capital. Patriots fans eagerly await the team’s decision, which will be revealed in the upcoming NFL Draft.
