Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder, has signed a “multi-year” shoe extension deal with Converse Basketball and will now be the face of the brand. According to Boardroom, Gilgeous-Alexander has also been named the Creative Director for Converse, giving him the opportunity to provide input and ideas for future products. A signature shoe designed by Gilgeous-Alexander is currently in the works and is set to be released in 2025.

Only a select few NBA players have had signature shoes with Converse, including legends like Julius Erving, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and others. Gilgeous-Alexander initially signed with Nike when he was drafted in 2018 before making the move to Converse. The exclusiveness of the brand and the opportunity to express himself both on and off the court in various ways were factors that attracted him to Converse.

Currently, Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder are gearing up for the 2024 NBA playoffs, where they will face either the New Orleans Pelicans or Sacramento Kings as the top seed in the Western Conference. The series is set to begin on Sunday night, and fans are eager to see how Gilgeous-Alexander will perform on the court in his new role as the face of Converse Basketball.
