Post Journalists Recognized by Associated Press Sports Editors

Sports Editor Jason Murray and Deputy Sports Editor Matt Rennie are pleased to announce that The Washington Post has been awarded two first-place prizes at the annual Associated Press Sports Editors contest. The Post had a total of 13 finalists in various categories, including writing, photography, section, and digital, making it the publication with the most finalists in the A division.

One of the first-place awards went to Dave Sheinin for his short feature on Brooks Robinson and his connection to Baltimore. Sally Jenkins and Kent Babb also received recognition for their long features on Evert and Navratilova and Harvard football teammates, respectively. Additionally, Candace Buckner, Adam Kilgore, and John McDonnell were recognized for their column writing, national beat writing, and action photography skills.

In addition to the individual awards, The Post’s sports staff received top 10 rankings for digital, print portfolio, and special section. These achievements highlight the hard work and dedication of The Washington Post sports team in delivering high-quality sports coverage to its readers.
