Rhett Lowder, a right-handed pitching prospect for the Cincinnati Reds and the first-round pick in the 2023 draft, has been promoted from High-A Dayton to Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts. After making five starts for the Dragons, Lowder earned his call-up to the next level.

Lowder made his professional debut for the High-A Dayton Dragons in April, pitching four scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and walking one while striking out five. In 25 1/3 innings with Dayton, he posted an impressive 2.49 ERA and a 0.947 WHIP, with six walks, 29 strikeouts, and two home runs allowed.

Ranked at No. 30 in MLB Pipeline’s top 100, Lowder has been making a name for himself since joining the Reds organization. His promotion to Double-A marks another step in his development as a promising young pitcher.

The promotion of Rhett Lowder coincided with the promotion of right-handed pitcher Paul Skenes from Triple-A Indianapolis to the Majors. Skenes, the first overall pick in the previous year’s draft, is set to make his debut start against the Chicago Cubs at PNC Park.

Lowder, who was drafted seventh overall in 2023, continues to progress through the ranks, showcasing his talent and potential as a future MLB pitcher. Additionally, right-handed pitcher Andrew Moore was transferred from Chattanooga to Dayton in a corresponding move.

Fans and media alike have been reacting positively to Lowder’s promotion, highlighting his performance and progression within the Reds organization. Cincinnati fans are excited to see what the future holds for this talented young prospect.
