Rock Co. residents urged to be cautious of measles exposure by health officials

Rock County Public Health (RCPH) in Wisconsin is warning the community about possible exposure to measles. An individual from Dane County who was infectious spent time in Rock County. RCPH, along with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Public Health Madison & County, and SSM Health, are working together to identify and notify individuals who may have been exposed to the measles virus.

People who may have been exposed to measles are asked to check their vaccination status if they visited the following locations: Kwik Trip on W Madison Ave in Milton between 2:45 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, SSM Health Dean Medical Group on E Racine St in Janesville between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday, April 22, and SSM Health Mary’s Hospital on E Racine St in Janesville between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23.

Individuals who were at these locations during the specified dates and times are advised to stay home if they are unvaccinated and contact RCPH or their local health department for guidance. SSM Health is reaching out to patients who may have been exposed to measles while on campus at these times through MyChart or by phone. The measles virus is highly contagious through coughing and sneezing, and infected individuals may spread the virus from four days before to four days after the onset of a rash.
