On Monday, the boys lacrosse Class 2A-District 12 semifinals took place with Venice facing off against Riverview. Venice emerged victorious with a final score of 11-5. Top players for Venice included Aiden Sleigher with 4 goals and 3 assists, John Ptaszek with 3 goals, and Owen Alford with a goal and 3 assists. Alex Ptaszek contributed 2 goals and an assist, while Chris Lagos had 3 assists. Alex Ptaszek made 14 saves in goal. Riverview’s top players were Carter Unkel with 2 goals and JC Fleming with a goal and 2 assists. Venice advanced to the final with a record of 11-4, while Riverview ended their season with a record of 5-10.
In girls lacrosse, the Class 1A-District 12 semifinals saw Saint Stephen’s defeating Out-of-Door Academy 16-6. Saint Stephen’s record improved to 14-1, while Out-of-Door’s record fell to 6-7. Saint Stephen’s will now host St. Petersburg Catholic in the Class 1A-District 12 title game on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Switching to baseball, Imagine School at North Port won against Southwest Florida Christian with a score of 6-4. Key players for Imagine School included Peyton Rassbach with 2 RBIs, RJ Cooper with a home run, 2 runs, and 2 RBIs, and Cooper Boggess with a double and a run. Landon Wade also contributed with a run and an RBI. Jacob Lombard pitched 3 innings with 1 hit, 1 run, 1 walk, and 7 strikeouts. Imagine School’s record now stands at 9-8, while Southwest Florida Christian’s record is 12-4. Imagine School will play against Cardinal Mooney next on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
