University of Maine Cooperative Extension and Maine Sea Grant are starting a series of workshops next week for those interested in participating in the Signs of the Seasons citizen science project. This statewide initiative aims to identify and record cyclical and seasonal changes in over 20 indicator species including milkweed, butterflies, and loons that play a crucial role in understanding Maine’s changing climate.

The first training session will kick off in Brunswick on April 4 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Stimpson’s Point, followed by another session in Falmouth on April 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Gilsland Farm Audubon Center. A 3-part webinar series will also be available for those unable to attend in person.

The workshops are free of charge, but registration is mandatory. Those interested can visit extension.umaine.edu/signs-of-the-seasons/training for more details about the project and to sign up for the workshops.
