U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is providing resources to improve access to health care in the Chattahoochee River Valley. In announcing the initiative, Sen. Ossoff stated that Federal funding will be delivered to the Columbus Consolidated Government to establish a Mobile Integrated Health Care Program in Columbus and Muscogee County. The program will pair a Fire-EMS paramedic with a nurse practitioner to engage chronic system users and disadvantaged residents in order to deliver appropriate medical care.

Sen. Ossoff worked across party lines to secure $139,000 for the project through a bipartisan government funding package. In response to the announcement, the senator expressed his gratitude to Mayor Skip Henderson and Fire/EMS Chief Sal Scarpa for their leadership and initiative in the community. Mayor Henderson also thanked Sen. Ossoff for his efforts in making the mobile health unit a reality and supporting public safety initiatives.

The Columbus Fire-EMS Department expressed their appreciation for the funding secured by Sen. Ossoff, which will enable them to pilot a collaborative Mobile Integrated Healthcare program targeted at high utilizers of the EMS system. These resources will support the Columbus Correct Care initiative, providing the community with the right resources at the right time for both emergency and non-emergency medical needs. Chief Scarpa thanked Sen. Ossoff for his ongoing support of Columbus and the Fire & EMS Department.
