Serra High’s Space Team Aims to Transform School into Science Hub

Junipero Serra High School in Gardena recently held a pep rally to honor the accomplishments of its innovative space team. The group of students, including seniors Isaiah Dunn, Christopher Holbert, Travis Leonard, Anderson Pecot, and Henry Toler, junior Keith Davie, and freshman Jonathan Cruz, showcased a 3D-printing experiment that was sent to the International Space Station. As classmates cheered, asked questions, and prayed, the team shared their excitement about pushing the boundaries of knowledge and making their school a leading place for studying science.

The students on the space team see themselves as pioneers, paving the way for future Serra students to follow in their footsteps. Travis Leonard, a 17-year-old team member, expressed his pride in being part of a group that is breaking new ground. By participating in cutting-edge projects like the 3D-printing experiment, the team is not only expanding their own knowledge but also setting the stage for future scientific advancements to come from their school.
