Sol 1398: Ready to Roll

Apr 27, 2024

After resolving the safe mode anomaly, Curiosity rover is back in action on Sol 1398. The day begins with a short science block, including ChemCam and Mastcam observations of the target “Luanda” to study the local bedrock’s chemistry. Mastcam mosaics will also be taken to examine blocky deposits and stratification within the Murray formation. Following the science activities, the rover will drive approximately 76 meters and take post-drive images for targeting purposes.

In the afternoon, there will be another brief science block consisting of Navcam and Mastcam observations to monitor the atmosphere. Overnight, Curiosity will conduct the final CheMin analysis of the Oudam drill sample. The plan also includes additional flight software diagnostics to ensure everything is in working order. It’s exciting to be back on the move and exploring Mars once again.
