Day 1292: Challenging Terrain Ahead

By

Apr 27, 2024

Data retrieved from the missing MRO pass on Sol 1290 confirmed that the 23 m drive was successful. The plan for today is to continue driving across the challenging terrain of the Naukluft Plateau. Careful consideration is being given to plotting our course to ensure a safe journey.

Today’s scientific activities will include using the ChemCam and Mastcam instruments to study the local bedrock. Additionally, a Mastcam mosaic will be created to document the sedimentary structures in the area. Mastcam observations will also be conducted to evaluate atmospheric opacity.

Following the drive, the team will conduct their standard post-drive imaging to prepare for future targeting and the potential for contact science in the upcoming weekend plan.
