353 ballerinas came together in New York to set a new world record for the most dancers en pointe simultaneously. The event, organised by Youth America Grand Prix, took place at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan. The previous record was held by 306 dancers, and the challenge involved all participants staying on their toes for a full minute.
Ballet dancers require years of training to master the art of pointe technique. Standing on the tips of their toes requires strength and conditioning to keep their feet and ankles healthy. An official representative of the Guinness World Records was present to adjudicate the event and announced that the attempt was successful.
One of the young ballerinas, 13-year-old Amanda Toledo, expressed her excitement about the achievement. She described feeling proud and shocked at the announcement. The participants came from all over the United States, as well as international dancers from Japan, China, Germany, and Portugal.
