The Doenges Ford Indians will be holding tryouts on May 16 in downtown Bartlesville, marking the start of another summer season. Managed by John Pannell, a former player for the team, this will be the 83rd year that the Tribe has existed. Pannell, with 15 years of experience as manager, is the longest serving manager in the team’s history. Last year, the Indians finished with a record of 15-17-1 and will be looking to return several key players to the roster for this season.

This year, the Indians will once again be fielding a 19-and-under club, continuing their tradition of providing opportunities for young players to develop their skills. Despite the rise of travel baseball and teams from larger cities, Pannell believes that there is something special about playing for the Indians that can help players grow. The tryouts will begin at 7:00 on May 16 at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium, with the season kicking off over the Memorial Day weekend at home.

In addition to the regular season games, the Indians will also have scheduled trips to Arkansas and will be participating in the Glen Winget Tournament at home. For those unable to attend the games in person, KWON and KWONTV.com will be providing coverage of Indian’s baseball throughout the summer. The team is looking forward to another successful season and is excited to welcome new talent at the upcoming tryouts.
