In celebration of National Minority Health Month, we are excited to share a special podcast series featuring our Strategic Alliance Partner, UPMC Health Plan. This month-long series is dedicated to highlighting important health initiatives and programs that prioritize minority communities.

In our third episode, we had the privilege of speaking with (Dr) Camille Clarke-Smith, the program director of quality improvement/Medicare/SNP STARs at UPMC Health Plan. Dr. Clarke-Smith oversees the UPMC for Life Medicare Faith and Wellness Program, which focuses on promoting holistic health within faith-based organizations and among Medicare-enrolled members. This program, much like UPMC Health Plan’s other initiatives, addresses social determinants of health and cultural barriers by emphasizing the importance of physical, mental, and personal wellness.

Dr. Clarke-Smith’s background as a health activist and wellness advocate has guided her in implementing innovative approaches to community health. By engaging with faith-based organizations and incorporating spiritual and community elements into her program, she is able to support individuals in achieving overall well-being.

To listen to our conversation with Dr. Clarke-Smith and learn more about the UPMC for Life Medicare Faith and Wellness Program, tune in to our podcast on iTunes, TuneIn, Stitcher, or Spotify. This episode is part of our ongoing efforts to raise awareness about health disparities and promote inclusivity in healthcare. We hope you enjoy listening and gain valuable insights from our discussion.
