The trial of Mr. Donald Trump in New York began on April 15, with witnesses providing testimony for the jury to determine if he is guilty of paying hush money to porn stars. The charges include falsifying business records to hide unfavorable information during his 2016 election campaign. The presiding judge formed a 12-member jury and the impeachment process of the former president began on April 22.

According to the indictment issued by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Mr. Trump allegedly paid $130,000 to Stormy Daniels and $30,000 to Trump Tower doorman Dino Sajudin in 2016. He also transferred $150,000 to former Playboy model Karen McDougal. Witnesses such as Michael Cohen and David Pecker are expected to provide crucial testimony in court to help the jury make a decision.

David Pecker, former CEO of American Media Inc., testified that he met with Mr. Trump and Cohen in 2015 to discuss suppressing negative stories about Trump and his opponents during the election. Pecker confirmed that the National Enquirer paid McDougal for her story about an affair with Trump after he refused to make the deal himself. Cohen, who was sentenced for financial violations related to the hush money payments, is also expected to testify.

Other potential witnesses include Allen Weisselberg, Dylan Howard, Kellyanne Conway, Hope Hicks, and even Mr. Trump himself. Trump has expressed his willingness to testify, stating that he will tell the truth. However, there are risks involved in him testifying, as he might face difficult questions from prosecutors. The decision on whether Mr. Trump will testify will depend on the developments in court.
