Dak Prescott, the quarterback of the Cowboys, is embarking on his ninth season with the team. Throughout his career, he has amassed impressive statistics in terms of yards, touchdowns, and regular season wins. However, he has yet to lead the Cowboys to a Super Bowl victory. In the postseason, Prescott’s record stands at 2-5, never advancing the team past the divisional round. This sets him apart from Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks like Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman in the history of the Cowboys.

Aikman, who is now an ESPN analyst, remains a believer in Prescott’s ability to succeed despite their disappointing performance in January. He compared Prescott’s situation to that of Peyton Manning, who faced similar criticisms early in his career. Manning didn’t win his first playoff game until his sixth season and went on to win his first Super Bowl in his ninth season. Aikman’s faith in Prescott stems from the belief that until a player achieves success, doubts and criticisms will linger.

Looking ahead, Prescott enters the final year of his contract with the Cowboys. The team has expressed confidence in reaching a long-term deal with him, but uncertainties remain due to the lack of a formal agreement. Prescott’s contract includes provisions like no-trade and no-tag clauses, adding complexity to negotiations. While both parties aim to secure his future with the team, the unresolved contract situation mirrors the questions surrounding Prescott’s playoff performance. Until a deal is finalized, speculation will persist about his future in Dallas.
