Stephon Castle, a UConn freshman, has declared for the 2024 NBA Draft after an impressive season with the Huskies. Castle, a 6-foot-6 guard from Covington, Georgia, averaged 11.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3 assists per game during the 2023-24 season. His performance was instrumental in helping UConn secure their second consecutive national title.

Castle’s decision to declare for the NBA Draft makes him the second “one-and-done” player in UConn history, following in the footsteps of Andre Drummond who was drafted ninth overall in 2012. The talented 19-year-old was named the Big East’s Freshman of the Year and proved himself as a star player, particularly in critical moments like scoring 21 points in the Final Four game against Alabama.

Castle is one of three members of the 2023-24 Huskies team who have decided to enter the NBA Draft. Center Donovan Clingan and forward Alex Karaban have also announced their intentions to leave, although Karaban is maintaining his college eligibility. Castle’s impressive statistics and impact on the team have solidified his status as a top prospect in the upcoming draft.
