The Ukrainian Security Agency conducted a UAV attack on an oil refinery facility in the Russian Republic of Bashkortostan, marking the furthest strike since the beginning of the war. According to a defense source, the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) utilized UAVs to carry out the attack, covering a distance of about 1,500 km. This operation was described as a “record far” raid, showcasing Ukraine’s advanced technological capabilities in dealing significant blows to the enemy.

Following the attack, smoke was seen rising from the oil refinery facility in Salavat, Russia’s Republic of Bashkortostan. The leader of the region, Radiy Khabirov, confirmed the UAV attack, which damaged a pumping station of the Russian energy corporation Gazprom. Despite the damage, the station continued to operate normally. While Mr. Khabirov did not disclose the origin of the UAV, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that there were no fires or casualties resulting from the raid.

This incident took place amidst Russia’s celebrations of Victory Day, with Mr. Khabirov condemning the attack as an attempt to sabotage the holiday. He emphasized that they would not yield to provocations, wishing everyone a happy Victory Day. Recent exchanges between Russia and Ukraine have seen both countries conducting long-range raids on each other’s territories, with instances of attacks on energy infrastructure and facilities. The escalating tensions have led to retaliatory actions from both sides, further complicating the situation.
