Victoria Hernandez, WFMS Science Teacher, Recognized as Finalist in TFCU Teacher Appreciation Week Contest

Victoria Hernandez, a sixth-grade general education and ENL science teacher at William Floyd Middle School, is a finalist in Teachers Federal Credit Union “Teacher Appreciation Week Contest.” She has the opportunity to win a grant of up to $2,500 for her classroom, which will be used to build an interactive vertical garden using coding and technology. To celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week from May 6-10, Teachers Federal Credit Union is hosting its 4th Annual Teacher Appreciation Week Contest. Ms. Hernandez has been selected as one of the top six middle school level finalists out of 1,500 candidates. A total of nine outstanding educators at the pre-k/elementary, middle school, and high school levels will be chosen to win a share of $15,000 in grants.

Ms. Hernandez demonstrates the highest standards of teaching excellence and leadership in the state. She is the driving force behind the school’s Science Fiction Club, providing students with an outlet for their love of the genre. Additionally, she fosters critical thinking, creativity, and a sense of community among club members. Ms. Hernandez is dedicated to professional development and continuously seeks ways to enhance her teaching methods, stay updated on educational trends, and collaborate with fellow educators to refine her craft.

Teachers Federal Credit Union recognizes the significant impact educators have on students’ lives and aims to honor their commitment and dedication during Teacher Appreciation Week. Voting will end on Friday night, April 26, and the winners will be announced on Monday, May 6, marking the beginning of Teacher Appreciation Week.
